The Computer Software Engineer applies the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to design, develop, test, and evaluate computer software and computer systems. Working under the supervision of the Solutions Engineering Manager, the Computer Software Engineer performs moderately complex tasks either alone or as a member of a team to provide Knowledge Management solutions to the company’s clients. Solutions are typically custom multi-year software projects and include building enterprise applications on Microsoft .Net Framework using Visual Studio .Net; developing software using Java and web technologies, such as XML and Web Services; implementing and deploying modern cryptographic techniques incorporating Java and .Net application programming interfaces; and writing and executing stored procedures and queries based on client-server architecture using multi-tier relational databases. The projects require extensive customer interaction from defining requirements to customer acceptance. The Computer Science Engineer, Applications will analyze customer requirements, design a solution and develop applications to meet requirements, test the applications, install the system on client computers, and implement the final solution. Team interaction and coordination, as well as regular review by the Solutions Engineering Manager, is constant throughout the project life cycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Analyze and refine client system requirements
• Translate system requirements into application prototypes
• Plan and design system architecture
• Write, debug, and maintain computer code
• Determine and design applications architecture
• Determine output media/formats
• Design user interfaces
• Work with clients to test applications
• Assure software and systems quality and functionality
• Integrate software and hardware components
• Write and maintain program documentation
• Evaluate new applications software technologies
• Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services
Required qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and one year of experience is required
• The one year of required experience must include at least one year of experience in each of the following areas (All experience may be gained concurrently and while obtaining an advanced degree):
• Build enterprise applications on Microsoft .Net Framework using Visual Studio .Net
• Develop software using Java and web technologies, such as XML and Web Services
• Implement and deploy modern cryptographic techniques incorporating Java and .Net application programming interfaces
• Write and execute stored procedures and queries based on client-server architecture using multi-tier relational databases
